I use the Rotatrix on Ubuntu, primarily with Blender and the Chrome browser. The installation process was seamless right out of the box; even with the default settings, the experience lived up to the hype. It has made navigating Blender's 2D and 3D views, as well as Google Maps and general browsing, significantly easier. I was particularly impressed by the settings page and the extensive opportunities to customise the tool. Over the last three weeks, it has become an essential part of my workflow. Many thanks to David for this product—it has truly transformed my daily experience at the computer.

This is super intuitive and easy to pick up. I got the kit and the board swap was pretty straight forward. I too have used the space mouse before and after a week of trying to use it I was still much faster and accurate with a mouse. I liked the freedom of accuracy and but I hated how hard it was to dial in motions.
I don't work in CAD but mostly in Maya and Unreal. I used the Blender and Fusion 360 plugins and fed that into Cursor and had it backwards engineer a plugin for Maya and got that up and running pretty fast.
It is definitly much more intuitive and consistent orbiting and panning with it for some reason more than a mouse. Like panning with a mouse sometimes feels like you are stuck in mud at certain angles, and I never know why, but the Rotatrix pan is just consistent.
I don't know if it will completely replace the mouse for modeling and rigging but it's a great partner and I don't feel like I'm really burning brain fuel trying to think about what I'm doing like I did with the Space Mouse.
I'd say the only main downside is the price, because I would love for more artists to try this, but I understand that David doesn't control that, especially starting with the Kensington track ball, which I suspect they probably have the whole twist sensor thing patented or something, which is why I didn't drop the rating. But I do wish it was at a price point where I had two or three of these around to tell other artists to try this out.
I purchased the Wired Rotatrix version and received it the other day. I must say it's very intuitive, I haven't used a space mouse or anything before since they're up there in price and I honestly I don't use CAD that much. However once I stumbled upon the Rotatrix I knew I wanted it for how intuitive it looked and how much I realized I hated learning CAD because of my hate of using a mouse to try and orbit or pan and forgetting each shortcut or confusing myself with how other software handles orbit and pan. Once I opened this thing up and hooked it up to my MacBook I loaded up Fusion and just started messing around with an old project. I instantly fell in love and then realized it would be hard for me to forget how to use it as you can have a little on screen display pop up showing you exactly what keys to press to do what. I am definitely excited to see how this helps me out and solves my frustration learning CAD so that I can actually get some things done that I want to get done I guess to put it simply, remembering myself in a flow state while using my mouse has me excited so see how much more I can get done in a flow state with the Rotatrix.
I've used it in OnShape, Inventor, Rhino, and Fusion 360. All of which feel fantastic and intuitive.
Fusion360, makes you wonder why this product does not exist already.
